29 of the top 34 finishers compete in replaceable cleats
BRENTWOOD, Tenn., August 27, 2018 – The winner of The Northern Trust Open, the opener of the PGA TOUR’s 2018 FedEx Cup Playoffs, sailed to a four-stroke victory. The now top-ranked player in the playoffs led a group of 29 of the top 34 finishers in New Jersey who were wearing footwear featuring replaceable cleat technology.
“It’s playoff time and players are seeking every possible competitive edge they can find,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “Stability is at the core of every golf swing and that starts with the outsole of golf footwear. Time and time again, cleated footwear has proven to provide the performance that players are looking for and this week was no different.”
In addition to its success on the PGA TOUR, replaceable cleat technology was a factor in the Web.com Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship as the winner – wearing cleated footwear - went from the bubble to securing his spot back on the PGA TOUR in 2019. The European Tour’s D&B Real Czech Masters’ winner also wore footwear featuring replaceable cleats.
